DAY-OF LOGISTICS

  • UCLA is a leading institution in education and research excellence. Many academic departments at UCLA are home to renowned national experts in gun violence. Yet, there is not currently a coordinated effort for groups at UCLA to address the problem of firearm violence collectively campus-wide.

This conference seeks to build a community at UCLA of people working to reduce, prevent, and manage gun violence in the United States. Multifaceted problems such as gun violence require multifaceted solutions, and this interdisciplinary conference is just one step towards that goal.

  • This conference has been organized by a student planning committee made up of representatives from four different departments at UCLA. The conference has been organized by Jennifer Vu (David Geffen School of Medicine), with support from a student planning committee including Wilson Hammett (Health Policy & Management, Public Health), Jack Kappelman (Political Science), and Tanvi Shinkre (Statistics). Students are supported by faculty advisors in each department.
